House Martin
Stonehurst Estate presented a demanding brief: a steeply sloping site with challenging soil conditions, and a view that had to be earned. The solution was to work with the land rather than against it.
The house is arranged across two levels that follow the natural contours of the slope. The entrance sits on the upper level, drawing you in from the street, while the living areas and bedrooms occupy the lower level — opening directly onto the garden and the landscape beyond.
Large glazed windows and doors run the length of the living spaces, framing the spectacular views and dissolving the boundary between inside and out. At the heart of the home, a double-volume living area with exposed open trusses rises above the kitchen, creating a mezzanine that adds depth and light without closing the space in.
